“Focusing Through the Lens: Sustainable Development” is the title of the project implemented by Green Valley Association from Sighetu-Marmației (Maramureș, Romania) and co-financed with 74,450 CHF by Switzerland through the Swiss Contribution to the enlarged European Union.
Among the activities planned for the two-years project’s development period (2016-2018), we can mention the following: hosting thematic workshops, setting up an awareness raising Strategic Action Plan for conserving biodiversity and sustainable development, organizing an eco-film creation camp for NGO-s and an international festival of short eco-films (FIEFS), making a pilot media package consisting of 100 videos (from 2 to 52 minutes each) that focus on eco topics from the Carpathians, Transylvania, Moldavia, the Lower Danubian Romanian Plain, Dobrogea, Danube Delta etc.
The primary target groups addressed by this project are: citizens with an interest in ecology and ecotourism, NGOs activating in the environment field, public and private institutions involved in environmental protection and biodiversity conservation, Romanian and international organizations experienced in producing and promoting eco films.
We are making one hundred films about nature and sustainable development, about species and landscapes, about protected areas and people, ideas and hopes caught in video. There are films aiming to wild nature and today's human impact both positive but also frequently destructive. We want these films to stir the public’s interest in nature in our country , to impart knowledge and encourage a healthier more balanced and meaningful life. A life full of love for humankind and for our environment.
As for ourselves we want to continue to learn. And we do not want the end of this project to be the end of our aspirations. We want to continue in a better, more honest, more artistic way, with better technical performance. We are willing to do this.
